Yesterday, Ministers Katherina Reiche and Nir Barkat met in Berlin. During the meeting, the Ministers emphasized the unique, deep, and multi-layered nature of the economic relations between Germany and Israel. Minister Barkat thanked Minister Reiche for her continued support for Israel during this difficult period. “Israel is facing an existential war, and we rely on Germany to stand alongside us,” he said. He added that trade relations between Israel and the European Union remain “a vital pillar of both economies, reaching € 42.6 billion in mutual trade in 2024 alone.” Minister Barkat invited Minister Reiche to visit Israel.

Minister Reiche emphasized: “Israel and Germany share a strong and dynamic economic partnership. Israel's economy is not only resilient but globally recognized for its cutting-edge technology, entrepreneurial spirit, and vibrant start-up ecosystem. Israeli and German companies are a great match. We are committed to deepening our economic collaboration to further growth on both sides”.

The Ministers reviewed the strong bilateral economic relations, valued at over € 8 billion annually, with the two economies being highly complementary, and show particular strong cooperation in cybersecurity, health, and fintech. Growing cooperation is also taking place in the field of energy, including solar energy, energy storage, and smart electric grids.
