The "IF25 H2 Auction" under the European Hydrogen Bank (EHB), organized by the European Commission has officially started and the Call Text has been published on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.

Germany participates with national funding, in the "Auctions-as-a-Service" (AaaS) feature of the “IF25 H2 Auction”. The BMWE plans some deviations from the “IF25 H2 Auction” design, which will be assessed under the State aid rules as part of Germany’s notification and which can be found in this document (PDF, 168 KB). On 11 December 2025 from 11.00 to 12.30, Germany hosted an online information session on the specific German 2025 AaaS feature. Slides can be found here (PDF, 919 KB).

On 28 May 2026, the BMWE has informed the three selected projects that can be funded under the AaaS mechanism and invited them to begin the grant agreement preparation (GAP) process.
